How to descend on a road bike

When I first started riding I thought the only thing you really needed to know about descending was to grip the brakes tight and pray it was over soon. As I’ve developed more riding skills I’ve learnt to enjoy descending and although I’m far from mastering it, I feel a lot more confident and am going a lot faster than before. My fastest speed I’ve ever clocked up on my trusty Garmin 500 is 61 km per hour which was in a recent charity ride which has some excellent downhill sections (and of course the matching uphills). Specialized lululemon – winning races around the world

Earlier this year I met up with Kristy Scrymgeour, the owner and manager of the women’s European pro cycling team Specialized lululemon and wrote a post about the formation of the new team. Over the weekend I caught up with Kristy from her Paris base via Skype to get an update on the team. I’ve been following the team’s progress via social media and their great website, and from my perspective they seem to be going well. It seems that Kristy is also very happy with the team and says they’ve surpassed all her expectations already, and it’s only June!!

So you want to do an ITT

Time trial master Cadel Evans I must confess up front that I’m no time trial expert. In fact I’ve only ever done one individual time trial and that was with absolutely no special preparation or specific training. However, my Club Championship ITT is coming up and I thought I’d give it another go and in the process educate myself about how to prepare for one. My first and only ‘race of truth’ was last year for the LACC Club Championship. I literally decided the day before that I would go along to Penrith Regatta Centre and give it a crack.
