Women Who Cycle’s Christmas Gift Guide for female roadies
Like everyone else at this time of year I’ve got a few friends and family who are difficult to buy for, so I write an annual Christmas Gift Guide for female roadies to help others. I often include items I already own or would like to own. Here’s my picks for 2017:
Socks
Socks this year have become very colourful and interesting so there’s no excuse for finding a great pair of socks to match every woman’s favourite kit. I really like these ones from Defeet.
Caps
Cycling caps are great for wearing under your helmet in winter to keep your head warm and also great for wearing at the cafe post-ride. I’m a fan of Velocio and so have included their Stained Glass Cap.
Bar tape
Updating your bar tape is a great way to tszuj up your bike. My bike has bright red shiny bar tape like the one pictured here, which always makes me smile.
Gloves
You can never own too many pairs of cycling gloves. I actually do own the Specialized Grail gloves pictured and love wearing them.
Sun sleeves
Sun sleeves aren’t the best looking garment but they are very useful, particularly for keeping your arms away from the sun in the middle of day. Pearl Azumi makes them in both white and black.
Smart trainer
High end smart trainers like the Tacx Neo and Flux are growing in popularity, and when paired with an online service like Zwift, they can replace at least part of your training on the road.
Bike cushion
There’s heaps of homewares and jewellery that are adorned with the bicycles, so my pick this year is a great cushion from my friend Tina at Wheel Women.
