Santa’s on his way – last minute gift ideas
I know a lot of men leave their Christmas shopping to the last minute. I’ve had first hand experience of this for the last 20 years so to help you guys out here’s a few tips for last minute Christmas gift ideas for the female riders in your life.
Gloves
All road girls like proper road cycling gloves that are made for women’s smaller hands. My favourites are Specialized BG Gel women’s gloves (size small for me in case any of my family or friends are reading this). You can buy them at Specialized dealers like Ashfield Cycles or Northside Cyclery.
I also have a pair of Bontrager (made by Trek) that are also nice. I bought these at Clarence Street Cyclery women’s store.
Socks
Socks are a great stocking filler and the only socks a women would be happy to find in her stocking are special road bike riding socks like my favourites from Specialized.
I don’t recommend you buy just any socks and pop them in the stocking. Socks are definitely not regarded as a great gift by women under normal circumstances.
Greenedge membership
The new Aussie team Greenedge has just announced its membership packages and for the cycling fan in your life – male or female this could be an ideal gift. There are a number of levels ranging from $77 for a merchandise pack right up to $990 for a package that includes a team ride & briefing.
Wiggle voucher
This is the ultimate last minute gift – a gift voucher from everyone’s favourite online bike store – wiggle.co.uk. You can buy the gift vouchers online and print them yourself. This could be done literally minutes before presenting the gift and I guarantee it will be appreciated.
A’qto T-shirt
You need to jump on this one quickly if you want to receive it by Friday. A’qto makes really nice cycling T-shirts. Not so much designed for riding but for wearing afterwards to show the world your favourite passion.
They have a large range of men’s T-shirts and have a few women’s designs. They are also stocked in a number of outlets listed on their website.
A New Bike!!!
You can also surprise her with a new bike. You probably won’t have it to put under the tree for Christmas Day but you could still supply an IOU. My choice if I was putting something under the Christmas tree would be a women’s specific Specialized road bike like the 2012 Amira SL4 Pro Mid-Compact.
Diamond earrings
I know these aren’t strictly a bike accessory but you can wear them while cycling and they are unlikely to impede your ride.
All girls love diamonds and every women loves Tiffany. There’s something very alluring about those beautiful aqua blue boxes & bags.
My top-shelf choice would be a pair of bezel set diamonds in 18 carat gold.
